Ever since I read (listened to) the Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love, I have been dying to try Pig Candy. Well, luckily, I got to try it out first hand at the SPQ Million Queen March Weekend......it was everything I had dreamed it would be. While reading (and listening to, just because it's soooo much more entertaining hearing it all in HRH Queen Boss Jill's own voice) the Sweet Potato Queens Big Ass Cookbook and Financial Planner, I came up with the clever idea of doing a blog just like Julie Powell did with the Julia Childs recipes. So here we go.....follow my progress as I attempt to whip up each of the tried, true and tested recipes loved by the SPQ.

The Jamie/Jill Big Ass Cookbook Project

Ever since I read (listened to) the Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love, I have been dying to try Pig Candy. Well, luckily, I got to try it out first hand at the SPQ Million Queen March Weekend......it was everything I had dreamed it would be.
I'm currently reading (and listening to, just because it's soooo much more entertaining hearing it all in HRH Queen Boss Jill's own voice) the Sweet Potato Queens Big Ass Cookbook and Financial Planner. I've been waiting to try out some of these recipes, I need an excuse to cook.....I don't do it for myself, but I love to cook for others.
So I'm whipping up some Pig Candy this morning, along with a few other recipes, and it hits me........I should do blog posts about each recipe just like Julie Powell did with the Julia Childs recipes. Of course, unlike Julie Powell, I will not be attempting to make every single recipe - I have my reasons and I will blog about that as time goes by. So there you have it!.....be on the look-out for my first SPQ recipe blog post. I can tell you right now it's gonna have your mouth watering.
